Les Deux Alpes: the Mecca of skiing in summer

Summer skiing: the merits of nature

Les Deux Alpes, internationally recognized as an avant-garde destination for winter sports, has the characteristic of presenting numerous alternatives for skiing in the summer. Here, unlike most alpine destinations, it is skiing that pulls the whole tourist organization machine even in the warm months. The location of the town, close to the largest skiable glacier in Europe, the Glacier du Mantel, makes this possible, with slopes from 2900 meters up to 3600 meters.

Summer skiing: the merits of man

The preparation of the summer ski season is not left to naturalistic skills alone; man too has played and continues to play a fundamental role so that Les Deux Alpes maintains its characteristic. Every year, at the end of April, the descents suffer a two-month-long setback; in this time the experts, using the Pieges a neige technique, keep the snow falling in the cold months inside traps made with wooden barriers. A brilliant idea that has been used for over 40 years now!

The best Snow Park in Europe

The flagship of the entire summer skiing activity in Les Deux Alpes is undoubtedly the SnowPark, the real kingdom of freestyle. This last discipline represents 40% of the entire customer base of the ski resort, attracted by always active ski lifts, two half-pipes (one of which is Olympic size), hips, quarters, whoops, handrails, and big air. In addition to all this to test your technical skills, there are countless music systems with DJs, music, and culinary contests in the open. The summer paradise for skiers can be summed up in impressive numbers: 90 hectares of slopes for every level of experience and reachable in just 25 minutes by cable car from the city center, areas used for freestyle and off-piste skiing, 16 ski lifts, a restaurant 3200 meters above sea level. glacier and ski and snowboard schools always open!
